Katherine Angel challenges commonly accepted assumptions about women’s desire and sexuality in the age of #MeToo.

She seeks to remove the stigma of an often taboo topic by drawing upon science and popular culture, pornography and literature, and debates on consent and feminism.

Sex researchers suggest that women’s desire is often slow to emerge. Some men are keen to insist that they know what women—and their bodies—want. Meanwhile, sexual violence abounds. How can women, in this environment, possibly know what they long for? And why do we expect them to?

Angel argues that we need to remake our thinking about sex, pleasure and autonomy without any illusions about perfect self-knowledge. Only then will we fulfil Michel Foucault’s teasing promise, in 1976, that ‘tomorrow sex will be good again’.

In conversation with author and journalist Sian Norris.

Polls are located in a tab just below the video feed. Some events may add a poll prior to the event or during a live session, so be sure to check this area periodically.

Questions & Answers are also in a tab just below the video feed. This is where you can submit any questions or leave a comment on a question. Once the host has answered the question, you will be able to view it in the answered tab. You can also vote on questions that others have submitted if you would like to see them answered.
