Can Employee-Owned Businesses Save Our Economy?

with Harvey Fremlin, David Sproxton, Annie Tubadji and Arend Welmers (chair)

FOE 2019 Square Bristol Bear
Wed 20 November 2019,

The employee-owned business sector in the UK is growing, particularly in the South West – most recently Aardman Animations where the founders gave their company to their employee colleagues. Does it really deliver the promised increase in success, profitability and sustainability? Is there an effect on the communities these businesses operate in? And is this a way of meeting twenty-first century management challenges?

Harvey Fremlin from The National Self Build and Renovation Centre, David Sproxton from Aardman Animations and Annie Tubadji, Senior Lecturer in Economics at Swansea University discuss the model with chair, Arend Welmers.

Bristol Festival of Economics is presented in association with

Triodos Bank
