About BCDP/

BCDP is a partnership of Bristol City Council, Business West, University of Bristol and University of the West of England. It aims to build a better Bristol by making an outstanding city of ideas that bridge arts and sciences; to create and celebrate great art by supporting artistic creation, excellence, ambition, learning and innovation through a year-round programme of commissions, events, festivals and wider programmes of commemoration and celebration; to ensure that artists, culture and the city itself contribute to the great issues of our time; and to ensure that everyone has a chance to contribute to and benefit from all work through the widest possible partnership working – bringing together artists, organisations, businesses and the public .

Deputy Director Role/

The deputy director of BCDP will provide effective management of all aspects of the organisation’s operations; support the director in taking forward BCDP to the next phase of its development; and have specific responsibility for the implementation of fundraising and income generation strategies.

In addition to a range of management and administrative duties, the deputy director will work on all BCDP projects, including Festival of Ideas, Festival of Economics  and Festival of the Future City; help deliver the Bristol cultural strategy; and help develop and deliver future projects planned for 2019, 2020 and 2023.

Salary                         circa £45,000 pa (depending on experience)

Place of Work             BCDP has no central office and staff work from home. The deputy director will be expected to follow this and to reside in Bristol/ West of England.

Hours of Work           The normal working week is 37 hours although extra hours will be required on occasion, including for events held at evenings and weekends. There is no overtime allowance, but reasonable time in lieu (at a time agreeable with the director) will be granted for excess hours worked. Permanent employees receive 25 days of paid holiday per annum.
