Sun 21 May 2017,

Nicholas Hytner tells the story of twelve years at the helm of the National Theatre, a period of unparalleled creativity and success. He tells us about The History Boys, War Horse and One Man, Two Guvnors; about probing Shakespeare from every angle and reinventing the classics; about opening the doors of the National Theatre to a broader audience than ever before; and about  coming up time and again against the challenge of reconciling art and commerce. He gives an insider’s account of working with Alan Bennett, Maggie Smith, Mike Leigh, Paul Scofield, Helen Mirren, Daniel Day-Lewis, James Corden and many others, and explores the art and alchemy of theatre, examining the biggest questions facing the creative industries right now.

Join him for an evening of memories, followed by a Q and A with Bristol Old Vic’s Artistic Director Tom Morris.
