Tom Abba: Conversations with the City

Bristol800 Weekender

Sat 12 November 2016,

Bristol’s internationally renowned creative economy is intertwined with the two universities in the city, and is sustained and enriched by graduates possessing organisational, entrepreneurial and creative skillets far from the rhetoric usually associated with an arts education. The antithesis of a ‘soft choice’ course, Arts education prepares graduates for careers that demand exceptionally flexible approaches, and offers them a rare opportunity to contribute to the cultural life of the country.

Tom Abba, Associate Professor in Art & Design at UWE, will discuss the ways in which Bristol affords a unique perspective on the nature of university art education; and highlights an alternative to the ‘salary’ measure of graduate success.

This event is part of the Bristol800 Universities Showcase Weekender.
