Jim Crace

The University of Bristol Man Booker Big Read

Jim-Crace
Wed 27 January 2016,

The acclaimed novelist Jim Crace discusses and reads from the 2014 Man Booker shortlisted and 2015 IMPAC Dublin literary award-winning novel, Harvest.

This event is presented by the University of Bristol in partnership with the Booker Prize Foundation Universities Initiative, which seeks to encourage first year university students to read, engage with and appreciate the very best of contemporary fiction, thereby enabling the university community to share a common experience through the text.

In 2015, every incoming first year student has been given a free copy of Jim Crace’s Harvest . The novel is set in the wake of the Enclosure Act and tells the story of what happens when a group of outsiders enter a small village in England, exploring what happens when a remote community’s age-old way of life comes under threat.

This free event is open to all the public.
