 Alan Davies

My Favourite People and Me
26 October 2009, 18.00-19.00 (PAST EVENT)
St George's, Bristol (see map)

One of our best comedians and actors (QI, Jonathan Creek, The Alan Davies Show and The Best Show in the World . . . Probably ), Alan Davies attracts millions of listeners and viewers. He has now written about his early life. Alan did his best to pursue life outside of school. His bedroom walls reflected his enthusiasms. From Charlie’s Angels to Paul Weller, pictures and posters were put up and pulled down with indecent haste as Alan’s interests veered wildly through Debbie Harry, nicking stuff, Adam and the Ants, tagging the back of bus seats in indelible marker, chicken’s lib and Jimmy White. But always football… and always Arsenal. Interview by Jenny Lacey, formerly BBC Bristol.

Alan Davies is one of Britain’s top stand-up comedians and actors He graduated in Drama from Kent University and discovered stand up comedy. Within two years he was Time Out’s Best Young Comic 1991. He worked in Australia, America and Canada again, before appearances on Tonight with Jonathan Ross and numerous other bits of television meant that by the end of 1992 quite a few people knew who he was, and some of his friends stopped ringing because they thought he was famous. Alan has been invading our living rooms again more recently as team leader on the BBC advertising quiz show Best Show In The World . . . Probably and with his hit series Jonathan Creek. Alan is now without doubt one of the hottest properties in comedy today. He is the author of a memoir, My Favourite People and Me.
