The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists |
Peter Lord, co-director of the forthcoming The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists, talks about the making of the film, from the initial idea, through production to the finished film. There’ll be sneak previews from the film.
Part of our second season of Bristol Genius, 1-4 December 2011, Arnolfini and Watershed, Bristol
Bristol is a city of great ideas, historically and now. Bristol Genius looks at the people and organisations working on breakthrough ideas in the city – ones that have the potential to change how we think, live, work, eat, play; that provide new business opportunities; and that can transform the environment, justice and society. These events are free but need to be booked.
Peter Lord is the co-founder of Aardman Animations, one of the most prestigious animation companies in the world. He began his animating partnership with David Sproxton at school and in 1972 they registered the name Aardman Animations. After graduating, they moved to Bristol in 1976 where they created Morph for the children’s programme Take Hart. As a director, Lord’s films have included The Amazing Adventures of Morph (with David Sproxton), Wat’s Pig, Chicken Run (with Nick Park) and the forthcoming The Pirates!: in an Adventure with Scientists (with Jeff Newitt). He was awarded the CBE in the 2006 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his services to the film industry. www.aardman.com
